Established in 1954 as an offshoot of Hanaharu Shuzo in Aizuwakamatsu, Fukushima, this brewery produced local sake under the Miyaizumi brand for many years. Soon after the current head came to the brewery, the brewer of "Sharaku," Higashiyama Shuzo, went out of business, and since 2005 Miyaizumi Meijo has taken over the brand. This is a next-generation sake that its young brewer created after being inspired by Fukushima's renowned "Hiroki" sake brand.

Sharaku junmaishu is the standard junmai of the Sharaku line up. The sake won 1st place at the SAKE COMPETITION 2014. In general, the characteristic of Sharaku is fresh and fruity, and that is certainly reflected even in this very basic bottle. Notes of fresh banana, vanilla, white peach, and mango are present. A bright and flamboyant sweetness fills the palate and sparks of acidity follow the sweetness.

The texture is very soft and velvety. A soft sweetness lingers after the finish like a fine thread. Seems like a sake that can also be enjoyed as a dessert.
